Breastfeeding: Hot Weather

Well, summer is approaching along with high temps.  Just a quick reminder about breastfeeding in hot weather.

It is totally normal for baby to want to nurse more frequently when the temps rise.  Babies not only nurse for nutrition but also for hydration.  Your body also compensates by making your milk more thirst quenching and not as heavy when you are hot.

Make sure to keep yourself well-hydrated so you can keep up with the increased nursing sessions.

Also, if baby is over 6 months, it is fine to give a couple ounces of water daily - not full bottles by any means though.  Use this time to get in some sippy cup practice!
