730 in 365 - Week 3

Are you decluttering?  I'm slowly working on it!  How is it going for you?  I'm inching along.  That 730 item goal seems a lot farther away here at week three than it did when I first started three weeks ago.

I am struggling with:
  • making the time to declutter
  • creating excuses as to why I should keep it
  • becoming overwhelmed with the STUFF everywhere
  • getting distracted either by the children or my forgetful mommy brain
I have 22 items to donate this week  - 20 clothing items and 2 baby items.  This brings my total to a measly 138.  That's not very far!

No shame.

This week I will concentrate my efforts in our closets.  We have so many clothes that either do not fit or that we do not wear.  We can probably reach 100 items just from clothing.

How about you?  What are your struggles?  How far have you come?

730 in 365 - First Week

So, how many of you joined in the 730 in 365 De-Clutter Challenge?  I know - it's late in the year to start.  Depending on how it goes, I may do a full year rather than just through the end of December.

For week one, I think I was fairly successful.  I can see a major drop-off after initial purging, but I have a secret weapon - baby clothes.  TONS of baby clothes.  It's time to pare down a bit.

Here's the tally:

22 cd’s
1 printer
19 books
67 clothing items
1 candle lamp
1 teapot
1 decorator plate
2 candle sticks
1 leapster video game
1 fake plant

Total: 116 items donated

How did YOU do?

730 is 365 Declutter Challenge

Just a couple weeks ago, I happened upon a post on Amy's Finer Things about her New Years Resolution.  She pledges to get rid of 730 unnecessary items from her home this year.  Well, I'm a little late on this one, but was excited to join in.

Will you join me?

The idea is simple - donate, sell, or toss 730 items before the end of the year.  That's just about 4 - 5 items per day for the rest of the year.  No complex rules.  Try to keep track of how many items.  I hope to take a few pictures along the way to share with you.

I will post my updates each Sunday.  Feel free to link up posts here (please link up on Amy's at the end of each month!  I'm not out to steal anyone's thunder!) through the month or simply leave your totals in the comments.

Let's go!  De-clutter that house!

In my living room, I have 3 bags and one printer to donate.  Now to just count how many items....  I'll have that in my post next week!
