Rediscovering Domesticity: Stolen Moments

Stolen Moments

We have been working so hard to get Little Man to sleep well.  We had a few nights with horrible night terrors.  We've had nights with several wakings.  We have had some great nights of nearly 12 hours of sleeping through.

Amidst the trials of toddler sleep have been wonderful moments.  Stolen moments.  Just the other night was so sweet - I almost didn't want him to go to sleep.  After a bit of freaking out, he settled in my arms.  We had such a sweet time of snuggling and playing.  I would nibble on his chin.  He'd giggle.  He'd make a silly face and I'd giggle.  We'd snuggle cheek to cheek - he'd turn his head and give me a kiss then I'd do the same.

It was such a sweet time and I look forward to more stolen moments.

I'd love to hear what sweet stolen moments you have had with your little ones!

I needed to read this. I've been struggling this week with my now one year old getting up three times (at least) to nurse. Last night it came to a head, and we let him cry it out. :( I needed to be reminded of the sweet stolen moments I can have when I'm up at 1am with a cranky baby. They do help.

My most favorite stolen moment was when he was 7 or so months. He had been crying for almost 2 hours in my arms. Finally, when I'd had enough, he grabbed my face in his hands and gave me a big sloppy kiss. That earned him another half hour or so of a calm, patient Mommy. :)

Aww! That's such a sweet moment! I always need to remember to cherish each moment and not get caught up in the daily tasks. I mean, it's hard to cherish poopy diaper moments!
