Thankfulness: Eyes

Have you ever just been struck with thankfulness over something seemingly small?

Today in church, I needed to clean my glasses.  I have a toddler, you see. 'Nuff said.

As I was cleaning them, I was still watching our pastor as he gave the message (which was awesome, by the way).  I noticed that without my $8 glasses, I am blind. All I could see was a peach blob moving back and forth somewhere in front of me.

I had a sudden realization that without this simple pair of glasses, I would be confined to my home, unable to function on my own (well, without a lot of teaching and practice).  I would not know my sons' faces. My husband's face.  Since I have needed glasses since first grade, so I would have had over 25 years without the gift of sight.

My heart immediately went to those in developing countries who do not have simple glasses.  I think about those without other simple adaptations that make a normal life possible - mainly wheelchairs.  Through the end of the month, the Free Wheelchair Mission will double every donation thanks to a very generous gift.

How much do you spend on glasses or contacts in a year? We spend several hundred on contacts and only recently have cut our eyeglass bill down to nearly nothing.

For less than $60, you can change a life TWO lives.  Think about it.  Click here for more info and to donate. Change some lives!

What simple thing are you thankful for?
