Giving Back

As I have been reading Kristen's journey on We Are THAT Family (she was able to go to Africa with Compassion International a little while back and has been blogging about her adjustment back to a land of prosperity as well as ways we can help meet needs of others), I have been convicted about our lives of luxury.  Yes, I said luxury.  Sure, our socks have holes in them and we have only bought a few pieces of our own furniture, and our cars are much less than new, but with all of that, we are still some of the richest people in the world.  Amazing.

It's time to give back.  I'm not saying to sell everything and live in a shack after giving it all away.  All over the world there are people in need.  Even in this country, there are so many people in need.  We can do something.  We can help.

It's time to give back.  We are able to live in luxury because of those who give of their lives and even give their lives to protect our freedoms.  They spend months away from their families.  They deploy into danger.  They leave the basic comforts we have all become accustomed to.  It's time to say "Thank you."  We can do something.  We can help.

Over on Penny Pinching Penguin, I have started a movement - Couponing for a Cause.  By saving money through couponing, we are able to use the money we saved to give back.  Here are a few great ways to give back:
How will you be giving back?  How do you already give back?  Encourage others!  Bless others!  Pray for them.  Don't forget how blessed you are.

Thank you for linking to my blog. This is a great post - I like that the examples you provide are all small ways that everyone can contribute to the greater good without having a huge impact on finances or habits.

Cheers,
Fawn
