Pray for All People: Continue Praying for Haiti

I have been astounded watching images from the Doctors TV show. The four doctors spent some time in Haiti helping where they are needed.  Watching Travis try to find one sterile syringe really touched my heart.  Images of people of all ages with amputations and broken bones are hard to see.  One story featured an elderly woman that had been found in the rubble.  She was in a lot of pain and needed xrays.  There is no morphine to be given because of controlled substance regulations.  After a 3 hour drive on bumpy roads, they came to one hospital.  That hospital didn't have the power to run their xray machines.  At another hospital, 3 more hours away, they found that this woman had a broken hip.  Due to her age, the surgery to repair the break would be more risky than just letting the break heal.  This woman would spend weeks in the hospital on morphine to control her pain until the break healed and hopefully would suffer no further complications.

1 Timothy 2:1-2, 8 (New Living Translation)
1 I urge you, first of all, to pray for all people. Ask God to help them; intercede on their behalf, and give thanks for them. 2 Pray this way for kings and all who are in authority so that we can live peaceful and quiet lives marked by godliness and dignity.

...
8 In every place of worship, I want men to pray with holy hands lifted up to God, free from anger and controversy.
These stories remind me how we cannot forget.  Helping is the right thing to do.  We have so much more here in America - even the poorest of the poor - than most people in the world.  We can all give a little.  Check the right hand sidebar for past posts with many ideas on how to help.  I want to feature 4 ways in this post.

Free Wheelchair Mission
This ministry assembles and distributes wheelchairs for free around the world for those who need them.  They have been on the ground in Haiti, assembling wheelchairs since the beginning of this crisis.  The need is great.  So many people have crush injuries and will not be able to walk or get around.

For $59.29, you can change a life.  Click here to read the blog about the efforts in Haiti. Click here to read more about this ministry and to donate.

World Vision
This ministry is a first respondent in disasters all over the world.  They have just opened another aid distribution site in Haiti and continue to need aid to distribute supplies in the fastest manner possible.
Click here to donate to the relief and long-term support efforts.

Red Cross
The Red Cross has been crucial in the rescue and relief efforts.  They need continued support so that workers can provide the care and resources that are so desperately needed.  If you cannot give financially, try to donate blood.  You can save a life.

Doctors Without Borders
These amazing doctors and nurses give of their time to go where they are needed to provide critical care.  Without these doctors, so many more lives would have been lost.  Please consider supporting this fantastic cause.  Check out their website to read amazing accounts of the incredible work they are doing around the world.
