Rediscovering Domesticity: Feeding Our Babies

Feeding Our Babies

I do not want this to be a debate between formula and breastfeeding.  As moms, we tend to put each other down way too much.  There are so many reasons why moms choose to feed one way or the other.  With Baby, I both breastfed and gave formula.  I am still nursing and still giving a little toddler formula.  Medical problems necessitated the formua, but it has helped to break some preconceived ideas I had developed.

I will be addressing breastfeeding a bit over the next few weeks.  I am not putting down formula feeding moms.  I just found in my journey that there are so many misunderstandings about breastfeeding that often make it easy to fail.

To start off the journey through breastfeeding myths, a comic.  I will preface this with my feelings about covering while nursing in public.  I prefer to cover in some way.  This has been increasingly difficult as Baby has gotten wigglier (is that a word?).  I just want to stay modest.  There are ways to cover without draping a blanket completely over the body.  I have gotten my share of disapproving glares no matter how covered I have been!  Anyway.....   enjoy the giggle!

I just found your blog, and I'm very excited to read through some archives. I have a 9 month old, and we've used a Hooter Hider (homemade) in public before, but I can't say that it's all that easy. He won't nurse in public now, so there's no worries there anymore! :)

I like that comic strip! I actually started a 34 comment discussion on my facebook about this topic, which was amazing because normally I think my friends just roll their eyes when they see another article posted by me. Here's my blog post on the subject:
