Housekeeping

I found this survey at Happy Christian Home and thought I'd post it here!  Copy and paste it into your blog and answer the questions for yourself!  Feel free to link back here or let me know in the comments!

Aprons – Y/N?
Sadly, I do not own one.  At this point in time, my clothes are regularly trashed anyway from the two little boys, but I think I'd enjoy wearing a cute apron from time to time!

Baking – Favorite thing to bake?
I bake TONS of Healthy Banana Bread.  I have the base recipe linked on my recipes tab, however, I have altered it quite a bit and will type it up and link it here soon!  It is simple, healthy, and yummy!  Here it is!  Here's the recipe!

Clothesline – Y/N?
Nope.  Honestly, I was scarred for life by laundry I brought in YEARS ago with spiders and wasps in it.  I don't. Do. Bugs.

Donuts – Ever made them?
Never.  I'd like to try though and celebrate Faschnaut day appropriately.

Everyday – One homemaking thing you do everyday?
Dishes.  I run at least one load of dishes every day.

Freezer – Do you have a separate deep freezer?
No.  I long for an upright deep freezer.  I have bad memories of falling head first into the ice cream freezers when I worked at an ice cream shop (I'm too short to reach in).  Don't want to re-live that every day!

Garbage Disposal – Y/N?
Yes.

Handbook – Y/N?
When I used one, things ran the smoothest.  I am working on one that suits us now.

Ironing – Love it or hate it?
I actually don't mind it.  I haven't ironed in ages though.  I have a hard time finding time to iron when I don't have a little one trying to "help."  Toddlers plus irons do not mix!

Junk Drawer – Where is it?
We have a tool drawer in the kitchen.  We have junk BASKETS but not a junk drawer.

Kitchen – Design and decorating?
Oh - I have big plans for the kitchen.  It works for now though. I would love to downsize our island so it is easy to walk around it. I HATE the range hood - if I were any taller, I am sure I would have had a concussion from hitting it - it is HUGE and LOW.  I don't like the cabinets, but they'd be fine if they were painted and had new hardware including hinges (so the doors close). Eventually, I'd love to change the flooring and the paint color. You can see my kitchen in the header image!

Love – What is your favorite part of homemaking?
I love accomplishing things - that I can be successful (even if I have to keep re-doing it day after day).

Mop – Y/N?
Well, I've been using the Swiffer WetJet, but after a recent experience, I think I'll be switching back to a regular mop!  We discovered that when I mop the entire kitchen and dining room, our carbon monoxide alarm goes off!  The readout says we have dangerous levels of explosive gas (not carbon monoxide).  My parents have had the same problem after Swiffering!  Now I wonder what they put in that stuff!

Nylons – Wash them by hand or in the washer?
I haven't worn them in ages.  I don't wear dress shoes with bare feet though.  I've worn shoes with thin socks.  I just can't stand bare feet in dress shoes and don't know how all my high school girls did it!

Oven – Do you use the window or open it to check?
I totally open it to check.  It's a pretty old oven and the window is quite small and dirty so it's hard to see through.

Pizza – What do you put on yours?
My favorite is ham and pineapple.  I also love just ham, or ham and pepperoni, or just pepperoni, or just cheese.  Yummmmm.

Quiet – What do you do during the day when you get a quiet moment?
What is a quiet moment?

Recipe card box – Y/N?
I have a box. I mainly use recipes I have saved on my computer though.

Style of house-
We were awesomely blessed to be able to purchase quite a large house (the fourth home we've owned).  We have 5 bedrooms and 2 baths (the baths are woefully outdated and need major work to function well).  The house is about 100 years old but was radically updated in the '80's and had a large addition put on about 7 years ago.  It is a two story home with a basement.  When it rains really hard, there is a lovely river feature in the basement!  We have a small city lot that is fenced in and we have a nice large deck.  The house is on quite a hill.

Tablecloths and napkins – Y/N?
I almost always have a tablecloth on the table.  The dining room happens to be right where the large bank of windows is in the front of the house so I try to keep that area looking nice.

Under the kitchen sink-
Hmmm... I moved most of the chemical things to a high shelf in the closet.  I keep garbage bags and dishwasher soap under the sink.

Vacuum – How many times a week?
I need to vacuum more than I do.  I get the whole house once a week.  I do spot cleaning as needed.  Our dog is on a shedding spree right now, so I'm doing lots of spot cleaning!

Wash – How many loads do you do a week?

I usually do about 6.

X’es – Do you keep a list of things to do and cross them off?
I make lists.  I forget my list.  I'm a list failure!

Yard – Who does what?
I occasionally help scoop dog poo.  I take care of the decorative elements - flowers, bushes and such.  The Hubs does everything else.

ZZZ’s – What is your last homemaking task for the day?
I make sure the coffee pot is set for the morning.  I pack Hubby's lunch.  I wipe down the counter and run the dishwasher. I love being all ready to start the day in the morning.

So, did everyone figure out that the list was alphabetical?  I am dense enough that I didn't notice it until the letter "X!"  I never said I was smart!

How about you?  What's on your list?
