Gratituesday: It's Not In Our Hands

The process of going through having our home appraised and refinanced has made me remember something very important.  There is nothing we can do to change the will of God.  He wants what is best for us.  Like our own children, we often don't see that loving discipline is sometime what is best for us.  At times, abundant blessing is what is best.

We don't have any results from the appraisal yesterday.  We are hopeful for a nice high number.  When we moved in 14 months ago, our home appraised for nearly $20,000 more than our purchase price.  We hope to take advantage of a much lower interest rate plus using that instant equity to get rid of mortgage insurance. 

After much stressing and cleaning and organizing, I realized that I've done my part.  I've done what I can.  It is out of my hands.  I'm not in control. 

What a comforting thought. 

Hopefully we will get our appraisal numbers in a few days.  Hopefully they are high enough - at least close to as high as the initial appraisal from when we purchased our home.   Either way, we know that God is in control and He has something to teach us through this experience.

Oh - how I often need to remind myself that God is in charge and that I am not Him.
