Disciples

I was reading through past 411God emails (have I told you how I love this service? I encourage you to sign up and send support if you can!), and happened upon this verse.  It is our instructions as Christians until Christ returns.

Matthew 28:16-20 (New Living Translation)

16 Then the eleven disciples left for Galilee, going to the mountain where Jesus had told them to go. 17 When they saw him, they worshiped him--but some of them doubted!

18 Jesus came and told his disciples, “I have been given all authority in heaven and on earth. 19 Therefore, go and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit. 20 Teach these new disciples to obey all the commands I have given you. And be sure of this: I am with you always, even to the end of the age.”

We should all disciple someone.  I'm not talking about being a disciple who wears a robe like back in Bible times.  I mean being a person who takes another under their wing and leads them toward Christ.  Who are you discipling?  Is there a younger person in your life that is looking for direction?  Is there a friend or family member new in the Lord that is just starting their journey?  Who around you doesn't know Jesus yet?

Some other important questions - what holds you back?  Do you fear what others may think of you?  I know I do.  Do you become embarassed about being "different" from the mainstream?  Check.  Yup - me again.  Do you get tired and lazy?  Check.

Thankfully, the above verse comes with a great promise: "I am with you always, even to the end of the age."  Yes, we may struggle with fear of man, with feelings of inadequacy, with fatigue.  No, we are never alone.  What a comfort that is!  Now, to just take that step.....
